About The Throttle Times

We document what goes wrong after you buy the truck.

The Throttle Times covers vehicle ownership — problems by model year, repair costs, maintenance intervals, recalls and service bulletins. We are a research and publishing team, not a garage. Every factual claim we publish is traced to a record you can open and read yourself.

What we cover

Everything that happens after the sale

Most automotive publishing is built for people who are still shopping. We are built for the person who already owns the vehicle and now has a problem, a warning light, a service quote they are not sure about, or a maintenance interval coming up.

That boundary is deliberate. It keeps our research narrow enough to be done properly, and it means every article answers a question an owner actually has rather than one a buyer might have.

Problems by model year

Which failures are documented on which years, and how widely they were reported.

Repair and parts costs

What a job typically costs, broken into parts and labour, with the date attached.

Maintenance and service intervals

What the factory schedule actually requires, separated from dealer upsell.

Recalls, bulletins and known defects

Open recall campaigns, service bulletins, and what coverage you are entitled to.

Still shopping rather than fixing? Pre-purchase research — specifications, trims, dimensions and fitment — is handled by our sister publication, Feature and Fit. The two sites are deliberately split so neither one blurs buying advice into ownership advice.
How we research

Five steps, applied to every article we publish

We do not publish summaries of other blogs. Each article begins with primary records and is built outward from them. Our full standards are set out in our Editorial Policy.

1

Start from the owner’s actual question

We define the exact problem an owner is trying to solve, including the model year range it applies to, before any writing begins.

2

Pull the primary records

NHTSA complaint and recall data, manufacturer service bulletins, factory maintenance schedules and warranty documents for that specific year and configuration.

3

Read owner reporting as signal, never as fact

Owner forums and communities tell us which failures are being discussed and how. We use them to decide what to investigate. We do not cite them as evidence that a defect exists.

4

Build cost figures that can be checked

Repair estimates are assembled from published labour times and current parts pricing, stated as ranges, and stamped with the month they were compiled.

5

Review, source-check, then publish

A second team member verifies every factual claim against its source before the article goes live. Claims that cannot be sourced are removed, not softened.

Our limits

What we are not, stated plainly

Automotive content has a bad habit of implying expertise nobody on the masthead actually holds. We would rather tell you exactly where our authority ends.

We are not certified technicians.
Nobody on our team is an ASE-certified mechanic. Our work is research and documentation, not diagnosis. Nothing we publish replaces an inspection by a qualified technician who can see your vehicle. Our full position is in our Disclaimer.
We write from India for a United States audience.
Our editorial team works from Chhattisgarh, India, and publishes for US vehicle owners. We are upfront about this because it shapes what we can credibly claim: our value is disciplined sourcing from US primary records, not firsthand experience on American roads.
Nobody pays us for coverage.
No manufacturer, dealer group, parts brand or repair chain pays to appear on this site or to be described in a particular way. How the site earns money is explained in full on How We Make Money and our Affiliate Disclosure.
We date our work and we correct it.
Repair costs move, recall campaigns open and close, and bulletins get superseded. Articles carry a published and a last-reviewed date. When we get something wrong, we fix it visibly under our Corrections Policy rather than editing the error away.
Who runs the site

A seven-person editorial team, working to one process

The Throttle Times is published by KCS Global Group, an independent digital publishing company operating from Durg, Chhattisgarh, India. The company runs a small portfolio of research-led reference sites; this one is dedicated entirely to vehicle ownership.

Seven people work on the site. Research, writing and verification are separate jobs here — the person who writes an article is not the person who signs off on its sources.

Sameer Patel

Founder and Editor

Sameer founded KCS Global Group after several years in content operations and banking, and sets the editorial standards every site in the portfolio works to. He is not a mechanic, and does not present himself as one. His role is to hold the sourcing rules in place: if a claim cannot be traced to a document, it does not get published.
